I probably would have rated it 3.5 stars if possible. Here's why:

3. Some little things i usually count on werent there. No kleenex ttissues. No sheer curtains on windows.(had to completely shut the drapes as all 3 looked out onto a sidewalk)

7. They called the room at 5 pm and asked if we were going to come to breakfast. We didn't know. Sheer asked me to call her back in an hour so she would know whether or not to ask the chef to come in.. Of course, breakfast was not complimentary. It just felt weird.

2. Shower was horrible. The controls were set so that i had either boiling hot water or ice cold. Not anything in between.

6. Only 1 tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner. I have long hair. For 2 of us we needed 2. I asked for more and the girl at front didn't know where to find any.

1. Bed was comfortable enough but very creaky. Every time my husband or i turned it got up it woke us up.

5. Dining room menu was limited and the prices were high.

Every staff member at the inn was so attentive and amazing, especially Ashley in housekeeping, Justin in the kitchen, and Jack the bartender. The food was great and the rooms were beautiful. My only complaint is the matress we slept on felt like a rock. That wasn't as pleasant.

An elegant respite halfway on our trip from Gettysburg to Cape Cod...gorgeous grounds, beautiful little room overlooking the patio! Heavenly menu, wine, service. gregarious bartender and desk people, and great breakfast and friendly service. The only odd thing was...we were apparently the only guests in the inn, and no desk person or other help are there overnight! We were a little unnerved by this....but an amazing place.....I can't wait to get back!!! Next time, we'll try to arrive on a Jazz night!

Overall, it appears nice and upscale. The room was larger than any we've had so fast for our New England trip. But it was impersonal--definitely not a B & B. And for such a high price of $258 (king) it felt like they were be stingy with everything.... Tiny ice bucket,no water, no tissue, having to pay for any breakfast at all.

We would not choose to return.

4. 2 of the pillows were on crunchy plastic.

We were looking forward to a late summer meal on the patio. It was extremely disappointing. Started well with a yummy asparagus and burrata salad. The entrees were a major let down. The short ribs were served with a polenta that was like cardboard and seemed to be premade. The "lamb porterhouse" was three lamb chops that were undercooked, flavorless and sinewy. The potatoes were fair at best and the salad was soggy iceberg and soggy tomato with what tasted like a bottled dressing. At $30 for the entree it was a major let down. To top it off the staff could not wait to get us out of there. We were two couples with one more that joined us for an after dinner drink. The staff cleared all the outdoor tables and tilted the chairs in, then came by about 5 times to see if we were done. At 830 they threw a bucket of water on the outdoor fire, another hint that we should wrap it up. We could see them watching us from inside, waiting for us to leave.

Very nice inn...food incredible...Jazz night the best...great time over all.

We finally left just before 10 while being glared at. That doesn't seem to be an unreasonable time for a place that is not only an Inn but has a jazz club that runs late night. Keep in mind this was a Friday night to boot!
